time for pause

My apologies for neglecting my blog this month. There has been lots going on In my 'real world' and unfortunately blogging hasn't been on my priority list. I still have lots to share with you all and I hope to be back blogging again soon. But right now I need some time for pause and reflection. Some time to take care of my mental health. Some time to connect with my family on a deeper level. Thank you for understanding. xo

Slow Living Diary (April2012)

This is the forth installment of my Slow Living Diary for 2012. The original concept came from Christine at Slow Living Essentials and she has invited everyone to join in!

NOURISH:  As the weather turns cold, we have been nourishing our selves with some wonderfully warm stews. My favourite new addition has been a chicken/veggie/lentil soup with homemade bread rolls! (if only I could convince Boo to try some!). The Manuka Honey and Lemon tea has also made an appearance as the winter colds and flu's decided to make an early comeback!

PREPARE: A new orange muffin recipe was trialed, declared a success and extras frozen for later! I also pre-made some Osso Buco Pasta Sauce for the days I just couldn't be bothered cooking while hubby was away.

REDUCE: Reusing old seedling pots and toilet paper rolls for our new winter seeds. Old yoghurt pots became paint pots for the kids. And hubby fixed a couple of our portable fans instead of throwing them out. (on a side note: what the heck is with everywhere south of Brisbane not having ceiling fans?!?)

GREEN: Air drying clothes and nappies. Researching natural herbal remedies! (to hopefully be used in the coming month!)

GROW: Seeds were planted into punnets, then destroyed by the puppy, then re-planted! The sneaky garlic chives hiding in the fairy garden are growing well. The mint however, was dug up by said puppy!

CREATE: Lots of sewing as usual. As well as trying my hand at felt, patchwork, embroidery and crochet. Lots of creativity flowing, just lacking the time to get it all done! (isn't that always the case).

DISCOVER: I signed up for The Organic Sister's e-course, and have found it powerful and inspiring (just like everything Tara writes about!).

ENHANCE: A combination of illness and crappy weather has meant less community connections going on here then usual. We did meet some new families at a play group at a local hobby farm which the kids loved.

ENJOY: We attended a lovely birthday party for a wonderful little 3 yr old boy. We caught up with a good friend that I haven't seen in person for almost 3 yrs! (Isn't it wonderful when you can just pick up where you left off, as if nothing has changed?)

How was your month??
